What Is Mental Fitness?

Mental Fitness To Change Your Life?

 Change Your Mind!
This is really amazing when you truly grasp and understand how powerful it is and if you don’t it can have such a negative impact on your life. Why do you think a lot of people go through life year after year getting the same results.

Your brain does not know the difference between what you actually experience and what you vividly imagine. The use of Positive Affirmations helps the Subconscious mind to reprogram through repeated personal, positive, present tense statements that can override the negative belief or negative thoughts already registered. The repetition of these affirmations brings about a new attitude while creating new pathways in the Subconscious mind.

You can sit down and listen to or read any of these self-help books and say I can do that, that makes sense and is logical or I’m willing to do all of it to make the change.  You can read all you want, you can listen to all you want, and you can study all you want but if you don’t gain an understanding to alter the program, the current program is going to continue to give you the same results. So for you to increase your likelihood of success, you have to install some new programs. To do this, you have to literally create your future and you do this by planning. Below is a list of important questions you need to ask yourself.

Future Planning
* WHERE are you now.
* WHERE do you see yourself
* Steps NEEDED To Get There

Setting Your Goals
* Why do you really WANT to do this?
* WHY does it mean so much to you to accomplish?
* What PAIN are you going to finally get rid of?
* How PASSIONATE are you about making it happen?

Finding Your Vision
The more we see and focus on what we want the faster we attract it. Get excited about your vision and goals and imagine what it will be like when you accomplish them. The more you do this, the more you harness the power of your subconscious mind to help make them come true. This process will help you develop the compelling reasons why you want to achieve your goals It will help create an emotional drive within to ensure you don’t give up.

Mindfulness
Meditation generally has something of a ‘bad’ reputation. That is to say that a lot of people associate it with religion or esoteric ideas and they think that they can’t meditate unless they’re ‘spiritual’. This can be off-putting for someone who doesn’t hold any religious beliefs or who doesn’t like esoteric ideas in general. But in fact, you can practice meditation whether you are religious or an atheist.

All meditation really is, is a directed attempt to control your thoughts and the content of your mind and thereby gain some peace and quiet or at least to be able to better understand the contents of your own brain. Often this means completely silencing all thoughts.

Many types of meditation, such as transcendental meditation, instruct you to think of ‘absolutely nothing’ and often this is achieved by focusing on your breathing, a mantra, or a physical object like a candle flame. This can be difficult for beginners though, as they constantly find their mind wandering.

The idea behind mindfulness meditation then is not to try and empty your thoughts but instead to simply step back from them and ‘observe’ them like a detached third party. This way, you aren’t letting your thoughts affect you and make you stressed but you also aren’t going to struggle with not being ‘allowed’ to think anything. Meanwhile, using this technique will also allow you to become more aware of your own thoughts and thereby be able to edit any thoughts that are leading you into trouble.

I strongly suggest getting more in tune with meditation. I have attached a great 5 Step Process to help you get the most out of meditation, even if you are a complete beginner.

Staying Healthy On Vacation

How Did I Stay TRUFiT On A Cruise Vacation?

So I can’t stress the importance of managing your emotions when traveling. It is so important to adapt to the inconveniences traveling is going to throw at you such as lost baggage, delayed flights, missed connections, annoying passengers etc etc.

Keep in mind  just because plans don’t always go according to plans it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t plan. What is more important is learning how to adapt and not let negative events compound to the point where you have become irritable, annoyed, frustrated or angry.

So the original plan was to fly out of Orlando early Friday afternoon and connect flights in Newark, New Jersey en route to Barcelona, Spain. Well, when travelling in 2017 don’t ever expect everything to go according to plan. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed 4 hours in Orlando and resulted in a missed connection.

TRUFiT TRAVEL TIP #1
When travelling internationally it is important to give yourself enough time to make connecting flights even if that means going a day earlier. It is inevitable that one of your flights is going to be delayed so make sure to plan accordingly.

Adapting is the key to enjoying your vacation. Always have a Plan B and be willing to really go with the flow.

TRAVEL TIP #2

Day #1
Missed Connecting Flight…
24 Hours In To Spend New York City

After arriving in Newark 4 hours passed the scheduled arrival time, option #1 was to stay in Newark, New Jersey for the night and catch the connecting flight to Barcelona the next day. No offence Newark but Option #2 was to hail a cab and head to New York City for the night and spend the following day sightseeing.

With technology at our finger tips 24/7, it is very easy to make last minute decisions like booking a hotels and rescheduling lights. With the help of google the plan was to find a hotel to check into in midtown Manhattan close to all the action, get a good night sleep so I would be well rested for an action packed day in NYC before heading back to Newark to catch the flight to Barcelona the following day.

Woke up early and grabbed a rent-a-bike

Cruisin through Time Square at 7:00am on a Saturday morning

Refueling with some all natural fruits and vegetables

Lots of walking and ride on the subway

Staying TRUFiT with a healthy breakfast

Checking out the sights on a Double Decker Bus

Day #2
Welcome To Spain Spain
Port of Call: Barcelona

A top European center for art, architecture, design and cuisine, this stylish city has its own language and culture. The soul of old Barcelona is its Gothic Quarter; outside the medieval district, discover iconic landmarks and more.

Walking the streets of Barcelona checking out the local shops and restaurants.

As beautiful as the sunset was as we started to set sail, my health started to decline as I began to feel very sicked and began having cold sweats.  No more than 10 minutes into the cruise I got hit with a 24 hour flu bug which sent me to the ships infirmary. I spent a few hours there until I was released and quarantined to my cabin for 24 hours. It was a rough 24 hours by but I didn’t lose hope that I could still enjoy my vacation.

Day #3
Welcome To France France
Port of Call: Provence (Marseilles)

Vieux PortFrance’s oldest city is one of its most dynamic, with a melting pot culture and vibrant arts scene. The soul of the city is its Vieux Port, the working waterfront. Marseille is also a gateway port to the scenic villages and coastal areas of Provence. This picturesque port was once known as the gateway to the Mediterranean.

WTF! 24 Hour Flu – Quarantined To Ship Cabin

Unfortunately, I missed the first shore excursion to Marseilles, France but was grateful to have a balcony room with an amazing view. Although not feeling 100% I was so happy to be out of bed with the major effects of the flu starting to wear off.

By evening time I was off the restricted menu and able to eat what I wanted so I made sure to stick to healthy options and drink lots of water.

Day #4
Welcome To France France
Port of Call: Nice (Villefranche)

As you can imagined I was thrilled Nice is a cosmopolitan city where you’ll find a colorful Old Town, elegant Belle Epoque architecture, French Riviera chic and much more. The ship anchors just outside city limits, in the deep blue bay of picturesque Villefranche-sur-Mer. Eager to get off of the ship and I was also very grateful that I was only sick for 1 day and had 6 more action packed days to still enjoy myself.

Travelling through Europe can be very enjoyable when you are healthy and fit. So many hilly streets to explore.

Checking out a local vendor selling some locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Day #5
Welcome To
Italy La Spezia
Port of Call: Florence/Pisa (La Spezia)

A former fishing village at the border of two enchanting regions, La Spezia offers easy access to Tuscany and its great cities like Florence and Pisa and the Liguria’s rugged coast and terraced villages known as Cinque Terre.

One of the great things about cruising is taking advantage of the outdoor running track early in the morning when the ship is approaching the port.

No Strollers allowed. At age 46, it is important for me to stay fit and healthy so I can still be physically active with my kids.

Eating fresh grilled octopus seaside in Santa Margaritta Island, Italy.

Grilled shrimp and prawns fresh fro the Mediterranean Sea

Climbing some more hills

Day #6
Welcome To Italy La Spezia
Port of Call: Civitavecchia

From the monuments of the ancient empire to the pursuit of la dolce vita, the Eternal City is an unrivaled open-air museum and a lively modern metropolis. The tiny enclave of Vatican City is home to sacred sites and priceless art.

So much easier to get your workout in before your day really starts.

Rome was full of walking checking out the many historical sites.

The flavors of Italy are absolutely amazing. Ate a lot of fresh seafood.

Hangin’ out in the streets of Italy as the day was coming to an end.

Day #7
Welcome To Italy
Italy
Port of Call: Naples (Capri)

One of Europe’s oldest cities, Naples is vibrant and filled with rich artistic and architectural heritage. Nearby sights include the ruins of ancient Pompeii uncovers, the idyllic resort isle of Capri, and the jewel-like towns that dot the Amalfi Coast.

The Lost City

A very surreal experience running up the stadiums built in 79 AD

Very important to stay hydrated by drinkings lots of water.

The views were absolutely amazing atop of Sorrento.

Sitting atop Sorrento eating some fresh local food

Situated high above sea level the streets are long and hilly

Sampling some locally made mozzarella  cheese

Found this enormous lemon and the local lemon farm

 Day #8
A Day Cruising On The Mediterranean

Decided to do a nice 5K on the Mediterranean while cruising back to Barcelona

Cruising has many advantages and great entertainment for the kids.

Did not Deviate from my meditation. Added a new element doing it in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

You Got To Move It Move It! So Awesome to see King Julia on the ship.

Day #9
On The Way Home From Barcelona

Innovative ways of travel and keeping the kids entertained.

Speeding through Barcelona Airport. Always important to be prepared to be on the go.

Always an added benefit getting to see the cockpit of an airplane and smiles.

All in all it was a very enjoyable trip that could have gone bad multiple times.

What You Think About You Become

If you want to change yourself, you first have to change your internal belief system subconsciously. The old beliefs from our developmental days can still be found in our subconscious mind. Although the programs are old, they remain a part of our everyday life no matter how old we are simply because most of us have done nothing to change them.

The subconscious mind has programmed habits and a habit is something you learned that you don’t want to change, like walking, driving, breathing etc. These habits are programmed into the subconscious mind and you have learned these habits once, and you do not want to keep learning them over and over again.

There is a recorded program that controls how we see and feel about ourselves, our true belief of who we are. This can apply to many different facets of our lives and over the years we have created these programs of limiting beliefs about ourselves and our abilities.

If you were teased, bullied or overweight to the point where it caused discomfort in your life, you are still living with those beliefs and pains today. If you were insecure about your body or who you were, those insecurities probably still affect you today. If you were raised in a negative environment, you are going to continue to have limiting beliefs.

Our internal voice is a voice prompted command system that instructs how you direct yourself to act or respond. If you haven’t changed your internal beliefs, the chances are high that you are still living with those beliefs and pains which have found their way into the subconscious mind.

Our internal voice is very important as it controls how we truly feel about ourselves.  What You Are Thinking About You Are Becoming. There is a correlation between our internal voice and our belief system, the more we talk negatively the more we reinforce the belief.

To ensure we are operating efficiently, we have internal auto-regulated systems with the ability to process, store and access information with the required programmed instructions. This can be auto-commands that trigger our behaviors and habits that reside in The Subconscious Mind.

Since any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in The Subconscious Mind through repetition, similar to a computer we can reprogram specific commands to trigger a different response from the computer or in terms of the mind, changing a pattern of behavior. Most of us have not changed any of the old programs.

It is not easy to change but with the proper strategy and game plan you can record over these limiting beliefs. You do have the choice to record what you want which can be very powerful when utilized correctly.

I encourage you to continue devoting time to personal development. There is so information available to you today that can have a profound impact on your life. Take the time to better yourself and you will see great things start to happen.

I hope you have a healthy and productive day.

Are You Struggling To Lose Weight?

Stop Struggling With Your Weight!

So, it may be getting a little challenging, especially if you haven’t exercised for a while. Don’t worry, this is normal but it is very important you understand what is going on.

The reality is, in the first week of starting a new exercise routine, many people will begin to doubt themselves. They begin to doubt their new routine before allowing it to really work. The end result is never good. Another failed attempt at getting in shape.

Not You…Not This Time…Not Now
Depending on what you may or may not have going on in your life right now, change can be difficult if you don’t approach it the right way.

If you have a plan to follow, you can put yourself on the path to success.

That’s Life
I understand that life gets in the way at times but we are going to work through that to help you stay on track and FINALLY get you lasting results.

I want you to understand the commitment and focus it is going to take to succeed. I also want you to realize, this is not an overnight process.

Sometimes we have these unrealistic expectations or outcomes, especially about losing weight. Because of these expectations we don’t allow the necessary time for the body to adapt. One word…Patience.

I won’t promise any unrealistic outcomes, but what I can promise you is, if you are mentally ready to commit, this program will show you the way to succeed.

Any Health Issues?
If you are dealing with any health issues whether that is early signs or you have already been diagnosed, my job is to improve your physical activity along with some adjustments to your eating schedule to reduce or eliminate these issues.

My job is to reduce your health risk like Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure before they become major health issues for you. Allowing issues like this to go untreated, can lead to major health issues and even death in the future.

It’s happening faster and faster these days. The foods we have access to is less nutritious and our lifestyles are putting more and more stress on our bodies.

Look Around You
If you look around you, you will notice the majority of people are overweight. Almost 3 out of every 4 Americans are overweight. Unfortunately, many people are becoming comfortable being overweight and this new acceptance is leading to major health issues.

It is also getting harder and harder to lose weight once you put it on. It’s not impossible but it certainly isn’t as easy as some want to believe.

But ask yourself, how important is your health to you? Do you want to have more energy so you can actually have productive days that lead to a positive emotional state?

Do you want to look better to rebuild your self-esteem, your confidence, and your mojo? Trust me, once you start feeling and looking better it affects all aspects of your life, relationships, work, personal confidence, etc.

Are You Ready? Are You Really Ready?
So how do you know if you are really ready? First, you need to ask yourself on a scale of 1-10, how serious are you about committing to a program that will get you the results.

Without going into too much detail, there are some underlying issues you are dealing with that have 2 root causes. If you are anything below an 8, the odds are you fall into 1 of those 2 categories:

  • You don’t have enough time and/or
  • You don’t have enough money

This is no time to be discouraged. This is a time to finally be motivated. You have signed up for an introductory program that shows you an effective and proven way to lose the added pounds and be in the best shape of your life?

You job right now is to stay focused and commit to creating new good behaviors and getting rid of the old ones that have gotten you to the point where you want to make a change.

How Do I Find The Time?
I am an entrepreneur, a devoted and very involved father, and married to a cancer surgeon. I also train for triathlons year-round, so the demands on my time are very real every day.

That said, there is a way and I would like to show you. I have found a way to own my time, accomplish more in less time and do it with limited amounts of stress to the point of going stress-free for an entire day.

Seriously, ask yourself when was the last time that happen to you. Before I started using some simple mental fitness training techniques, it seemed like every day was exhausting both mentally and physically. It finally got to the point where I answered 10. I just didn’t want to live the way I was living anymore.

If you previously answered 8 or less, I want you to ask yourself the same question again on a scale of 1-10, how serious are you to commit to this program that will get you amazing results using a proven system?

You really have to believe.

I hope you have a healthy and productive day.

5 Tips to a Healthy Spiritual Life

We are all on a journey in this life to do great things.  These great things are big and small and can have an effect on millions of people or just one person.  It is a lifelong quest to figure out what your life purpose is.  Discovering what really motivates you and gives you the energy to be always growing is part of your spiritual path.  It doesn’t matter what religion you follow or where your beliefs lie, there are certain elements to focus on to find your place and discover what significance your life plays in the world around you.

Your inner growth is the most important growth in your life, not only because it’s what forms your perspective (which gives you a positive or negative take on your surroundings), but also because it is how you will discover what you were created for.  There’s nothing more peaceful than knowing that you’re living your life the way you were designed to.  The five points below are what you need to focus on to live a life of purpose and meaning:

  1. Have faith in your personal power. This can be related to one’s faith in a specific religion, but faith is not limited to religion.  Believe that you have been given special qualities and that there is a universal source that connects one to all.  Believe that you are capable of doing great and satisfying things and that you’ll get through all those ups and downs in life.  The most important things have to be believed to be seen.
  2. Have patience in your wait for the right things at the right time. Patience is a virtue and not easily come by, which makes for lots of opportunities to grow in this area.  We want things right when we think of them. Instant gratification is mainstream in society and it seems that it should be that way in our spiritual life, but unfortunately we’re not here to make the rules, we’re here to discover ‘the good life’
  3. Generate love continuously and about everything. To love under any circumstances really is the greatest achievement of all and it’s really not that hard once you have a few years of practice under your belt.  Love does make the world work right and feeling love in difficult situations will make your inner world a much happier place; love for yourself and others.
  4. Develop a prayer practice. Don’t worry about all those rules out there about how to pray.  You just need to have the intention to connect with your creator and be aware of what you’re thankful for, what you’d like in your life and what you’d like for others.  Say it out loud, think it, or even write it down in your very own prayer journal.  Just put it out in the universe and take comfort that you’ve been heard.
  5. Be aware of creation. Nature is all around us, providing, nurturing, and sharing.  Take time to spend quiet moments in natural surroundings and be aware of how perfectly nature lives.  You’ll soon strengthen your faith in the gifts and abilities that have been given to you to live a truly blessed life.

Living a happy life has very little to do with what goes on around you and a whole lot to do with how you perceive the world around you.  To help your thoughts stay positive grow your faith, patience, love, prayer and belief in a faithful creation.  You have been created for great things and it’s up to you to act on those qualities you have been blessed with.

With an inquisitive motivation and a genuine believe in the reality of a healthier you, start off your journey to better health with this checklist of a healthy life.  There are various benefits to healthy living, some of which you will likely be aware of and some that you will be comforted to know will be a reward of your step in the right direction.

A Healthy Life Checklist:

  • A positive attitude about life and living
  • An open mind to new and nurturing activities
  • Less (or no) negative reactions and more control of emotions
  • General benefits of physical activity such as increased energy, better muscle tone, improved metabolism and greater flexibility
  • More productive and effective in personal and professional activities
  • Additional years of living a better quality of life
  • Reduced risk of chronic illness
  • Aspirations to achieve more in all areas of life
  • Reduced occurrence of bone loss associated with ageing
  • Improved mood and self-esteem
  • Better functioning of all body systems

With all that is gained from leading a healthy life you can be assured that it is well worth the initial effort of making the gradual shift to better living.  Slowly but surely you can make all the changes necessary in different areas of your life to get the most out each day with a renewed optimism that is sure to infect the people around you.  So don’t just make the lifestyle change for yourself – do it for your children, your spouse, your parents, siblings, friends and even those casual acquaintances that will be inspired to take a closer look at their way of living when they see how full of life you are when you choose to put health first.

Below are a few inspiring words to encourage you to live a healthier way:

“A vigorous five-mile walk will do more good for an unhappy but otherwise healthy adult than all the medicine and psychology in the world.”
~Paul Dudley White (1886-1973) American physician and cardiologist.

“Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness.”
~Edward Smith-Stanley (1752-1834) English statesman and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

He who takes medicine and neglects his diet wastes the skill of his doctors.
~Chinese Proverb

Why A Healthy Mind Matters

The Importance Of A Healthy Mind

It’s no secret that a healthy lifestyle is beneficial for everyone. Creating a positive mental state, making healthy food choices, and partaking in regular physical activity are all major factors to your overall well-being. When you can maintain a balanced life that includes a healthy mind, body and soul, you’ll find that the external events of your life – all that stuff you can’t control – have much less effect on your happiness and success in life.

Your health does not just make your body look better and help to ward off disease and disorders, it provides a solid foundation to the reality that you can create a better life and it doesn’t have anything to do with what is happening outside of you.

Taking control of your health is most effective when you take a look at yourself with a holistic perspective. The holistic approach to health takes into account the complete person; their physical, psychological and social needs which directly relate to their spiritual selves. Basically, you would improve your overall well-being by integrating aspects of every part of yourself and by not just eating right and getting exercise.

Your mind needs stimulation, you need social interaction and solid relationships, and you need to nurture your spiritual side along with honoring the operation of your body’s physical aspects.

When someone desires to improve their health there is always a much more long-term commitment when they have made a whole lifestyle change rather than just deciding to try a new diet for 2 weeks. You really shouldn’t restrict foods or participate in a rigorous exercise regime for short periods of time.

Although it seems to be a popular trend to try out the next new diet or be part of the next ‘exercise craze’, it isn’t these short bursts of diet and exercise changes that provide lasting health benefits. You will be much better served by taking the time and effort to truly look at your whole self; preparing yourself mentally, gaining lots of knowledge about healthy living, gradually adding positive habits and slowly eliminating harmful habits, and discovering ways to nurture your inner self as well.

As you’re looking at the areas of your life involving food and exercise, don’t leave out a vital component of a complete life – your spiritual health. Nurturing your mind, body and spirit is a package deal. You can’t connect with your true self and commit to a renewed life of health without nourishing your spiritual side.
